นี่คืออีเมลล์ที่ผมเขียนถึงกลุ่มคนไทยที่ CMU เรื่องการเลือกตั้งนอกราชอาณาจักร ความจริงแล้วเนื้อหาครอบคลุมถึงคนไทยที่อื่นในสหรัฐอเมริกา (และอาจจะแคนาดา?) ด้วย ถ้าใครเห็นว่ามีประโยชน์ จะคัิดลอกไปส่งต่อให้ญาติพี่น้อง เพื่อนสนิทมิตรสหาย เจ้ากรรมนายเวร ฯลฯ ผมก็ขออนุโมทนาด้วย :)

It's time for Thailand's General Election again! The date has been set to April-2, 2006. If you would like to vote, please follow the following VERY EASY steps. No matter what your political standing is, I encourage you to take these steps to exercise your right and duty under the Constitution.
[How to check your eligibility?]
- Check out http://www.khonthai.com/Election/foreign/enq/index.php
- If it says you have a right to vote abroad, you can stop here. You don't have to register again; just sit back and wait for the ballot to be mailed to you.
[Where to find the form?]
- Download the (very simple) form at http://www.thaiembdc.org/forms/regis.pdf
[How to fill the form?]
- If you live in PA, put "New York City Consulate" under item #4.
- If you live elsewhere, please consult http://www.thaiembdc.org/election/sen2006/datenlocate/usmap.html
[Where to send it to?]
- If you live in PA, mail the form to

I think if you recently moved, you have to file the move form ขอถอนรายชื่อผู้มีสิทธิเลือกตั้ง to the embassy of your old place. And that's it. ใช่ป่าววว

First of all, thank p'P:) for your visit.
My understanding is that you can still use this form, but under item #4, check at "ขอเปลี่ยนแปลงสถานที่ใช้สิทธิเลือกตั้งนอกราชอาณาจักร โดยขอย้ายไปใช้สิทธิ
ณ สถานทูต/สถานกงสุล ..." and I think it makes sense to mail that to the Consulate office of your new address.
To be sure, of course, you may just call the embassy and ask. I callled them once. The person taking my call was very helpful.

Apparently, according to the lady in DC who took my phone call said I had to file two forms to both New York and LA. The election registration one to LA and the move form to New York, despite what the official website said, and I qouted, "ต้องแจ้งต่อสถานเอกอัครราชทูตหรือสถานกงสุลใหญ่ที่ตนมีชื่ออยู่ ในทะเบียนรายชื่อผู้มีสิทธิ เลือกตั้งเพื่อขอถอนชื่อของตนออกจากทะเบียนรายชื่อฯ ของสถานเอกอัครราชทูต หรือสถานกงสุลใหญ่แห่งนั้นซึ่งสถานเอกอัครราชทูตหรือสถานกงสุลใหญ่แห่งนั้น จะแจ้งชื่อบุคคลที่เปลี่ยนแปลงที่อยู่นั้นให้สถานเอกอัครราชทูตหรือ สถานกงสุล ใหญ่ที่บุคคลผู้นั้นย้ายไปอยู่ในเขตการดูแลให้ทราบ และเพิ่มชื่อบุคคลนั้นใน ทะเบียนรายชื่อผู้มีสิทธิเลือกตั้งของสถานเอกอัครราชทูตหรือสถานกงสุลใหญ่ แห่งใหม่ต่อไป "
The lady who took the call was quite upset with me because I wanted to move from New York to LA and her DC office had nothing to do with it. I just asked for general cases...
How sad it is...Well, I guess she almost took off from her busy work and my call at 2pm PT put her back on her chair for another two minutes...Oh well...sorry.
